The virtual height of the F2 layer, h'F2

This parameter is very rarely scalable from the data of either ionosonde. For example, in December 1993, it was unmeasurable by either instrument for over ninety percent of the time. In fact, between December 1993 and April 1994, the maximum percentage of common data is never more than thirty percent. For those months where there were enough common points to give a significant correlation coefficient, the value of the ratio is reasonable, lying between 0.9 and 1.1. When the number of points is increased, by fitting a line to the spring equinox data for example, the resulting gradient is found to be 1.07.
