Maintained by: German Aerospace Center, DLR. The WDC for Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere, Oberpfaffenhofen, is operated by, and collocated with, the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) and the Remote Sensing Technology Institute (IMF) (http://www.caf.dlr.de) Summary of Data Held: Atmospheric trace gas concentrations, cloud physical and meteorological parameters from various satellite based sensors (see http://wdc.dlr.de for details):
Furthermore, the WDC holds a spectroscopic data base, land and ocean surface parameters (LST, SST, NDVI) as well as various correlative data from non-satellite-measurements. User Services: The WDC for Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere offers various services such as the assistance of scientific measurement campaign planning by analysing the overall atmospheric state using satellite data. It will contribute to validation of atmospheric measurements by applying e.g. 3d trajectory modeling to better match satellite data with correlative measurements. The WDC offers an atmospheric correction of satellite based surface observations and assists with its expertise in designing new space instruments. Visitors are welcome; advance notice is necessary. Guest scientists will be hosted. Data processing, copying and analysis facilities (e.g. a. virtual laboratory for scattering and radiative transfer studies) are available. Data are available on most media and via Internet. Publications: Regular Newsletter including descriptions of new data and information available. |
