WDC Data, models and other facilities
This page provides links to our on-line holdings, but users may request data
from the substantial holdings of both off-line
digital and non-digital data.
Ionospheric Data
  - Ionospheric
       Sounding Parameters
A collection of hourly data and monthly medians from 170 stations
       worldwide from 1950 onwards.
- Near real-time ionospheric
       data
Display data availability, download raw data for use with
       SAO-Explorer,
display or plot auto-scaled parameters, generate true height
profiles. Data is available from instruments across Europe and the UK
sounders at Chilton and Port Stanley. This facility has been developed
as part of the COST-271 action.
- Latest ionograms and
       previous ionograms, parameters
       and true height profiles
Ionograms, f-plots, preliminary autoscaled parameters, final manually
checked parameters and true height profiles
from the sounders at Chilton (RAL), Lerwick and Port Stanley.
- Raw ionosonde data.
The raw data from the sounders at Chilton, Lerwick and Port Stanley.
You will need a copy of the commercial ADEP software supplied by the
University of Lowell to use this.
Geophysical Data and Models
  - Geophysical Parameters - Select from a list of parameters :

 - aa
-includes daily mean. The aa data's average aa data indices have been derived by two antipodal sites, originally Greenwich and Melbourne but now their nearest replacements

- AE
index - AE stands for Auroral Electroject indices of magnetometer values measured round the North Pole

- am
is a planetary index of geomagnetic variation measured at several longitudes round the globe

- ap
        - The Ap index is daily, and the ap index is 3-hourly. This data is derived (along with Cp and Kp) from K readings.

- Bartels
day number and solar rotation number

- By
and Bz GSE and GSM parameters

- IF2
and IG. These are taken from the bulletins produced at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

- The Polar
cap index is a newly introduced index for magnetic activity.Indices
are available for both the north (Vostok) and South (Thule) poles.

- Solar
wind data - flow latitude/longitude and speed with plasma data also included

-
Sunspot numbers from Boulder and Meudon, with International data and
       annual means also included

Descriptions of these datasets are available
- Auroral Oval Indices
Generate plots of the indices being created for the
       Ground-Based Data Centre, colocated with
       the WDC.
- Geophysical Models
The MSIS-86 and MSISE-90 models of upper atmosphere temperature and
       composition. Other models will appear
       in due course.

- Geographic/Geomagnetic Coordinate
       Conversion using the
       AACGM system.

- Coordinate Conversions for Vectors in Geocentric and Heliocentric systems

Solar Data

Reports
  - PRESTO
Latest warning message from SIDC (RWC-Brussels).
- GEOALERT
 GEOALERT message from SIDC (RWC-Brussels).
- Daily Reports
URSIGRAMs from SIDC; Solar Daily Forecasts and Solar Geophysical
Activity Summary reports from SEC, Boulder. These give a range of reports
and forecasts of solar and geophysical conditions, and include F10.7,
Ap, various K indices and sunspot number.
- Monthly Reports
Monthly summary of daily Sunspot number, F10.7 and Ap. Monthly values
of IF2 and IG ionospheric indices.
-
International Geophysical Calendar (Mirrored from NOAA)
The calendar published for ICSU by ISES, giving details of Regular
World Days, eclipses, meteor showers and more.
