Radio Propagation Index

This dataset holds the monthly values for a range of radio propagation indices. They are the monthly mean International Sunspot Number, R, and the IF2, IG indices based on foF2 observations from a range of stations around the world. The last two indices are accompanied by their twelve-month running mean, and these indices can be used to predict average ionospheric conditions. The database holds the following information:

1. Sunspot numbers. Provisional and forecast values are received at the beginning of each month by email from the Sunspot Index Data Centre (SIDC), Brussels. Final values are taken from the 'Sunspot Bulletin' published by the SIDC.

2. Ionospheric Indices (IF2, IG12). These are taken from the bulletins produced at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.
