HF radio experiment: equipment

Your normal HF transceiver is fine.

However you do need to calibrate your signal strength or S-meter. Absolute signal strength is NOT necessary, but it is important to have the RELATIVE signal strength to within 2-3dB. A detailed description as to how to calibrate your S-meter is available here.

A suitable radio contact, or partner(s), to work with .

This means someone who is located in suitable a distance away from you and the eclipse path .
Who can be reached at a suitable radio frequency.

Some form of "data logger ". Pen and paper or a computer if you have one.

A clock.
