The best results are likely to be for those HF links where the radio wave has bounced off the part of the ionosphere that is within the darkest part of the eclipse shadow. 

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH SIDE, NORTH OR SOUTH OF THE PATH OF TOTALITY, IS THE TRANSMITTER AND WHICH IS THE RECEIVER.

Figure 1. The optimum ground range between the transmitter and the receiver is less than 1500 km (930 miles).  Data from paths would also be welcome. But we would recommend AGAINST paths that require multiple hops.
